Story: The story starts in Malaysia with Naina (Ileana) narrating her past relation to Kalyan Krishna (Shyam) ,he is cop and an marriage alliance for Naina ….

Naina meets a guy called Kalyan (Ravi Teja) in her friends marriage. Kalyan loves to do anything to get KICK. He likes variety and loves to do the unpredictable. He loves Naina and he makes her to love him. Finally their bond gets separated when Naina reciprocates her love as he lies about his job…..

Kalyan Krishna also tells her about his task in Malaysia..

He is there to nab a mystery robber who steals huge sums from famous persons in India. Kalyan Krishna is a tough cop and he is like a dictionary for the department..

The robber gives a slip in India and lands in Malaysia and Kalyan Krishna cracks his whereabouts and follows him… After a lot of drama Kalyan Krishna discovers that the mystery robber is none other than Kalyan…

Why is Kalyan robbing money? Will Kalyan Krishna catches him? Is the rest of the story…you will definitely get the Climax ‘KICk’.

Artist’s Performance: Ravi Teja did a decent job as a easy going guy. He matched the glamour quotient with hourglass beauty Ileana. His Performance is good and verymuch similar to his previous movies.

Ileana has added some pounds and looking fresh in this movie. Her costumes are good.

Tamil hero Shyam had a good introduction to tollywood with Kick. Unlike a guest role his role has lot of importance in the story.

Bramhanandam played the role of ‘Halwa Raj’ which entertains you in the first half.

Venu Madhav, Ali, Shiyaji Shinde, Kota, Chalapathi rao played tiny roles.

Technical details: Surender Reddy has chosen an old plot but his narration is very fresh. Screenplay gets dull in the mid second half but picks up at the end. He has chosen perfect artists for the roles. Songs are picturised very well.

Music by Thaman stands outstanding. Background score is also good.

Story by Vakkantham Vamsi is a old one which has flavors of many old films.

Editing by Gautham Raju is chrisp.

Verdict: Kick released amidst huge fanfare. With no threat from big movies for a couple of weeks Kick has the potential to attract all sections of audience and having the names of Ravi teja, Ileana, Surender Reddy you can give a try in this movie thirst season.

Story
Deva (Surya) is a smuggler who works under the number one mafia don Das (Prabhu). Kamlesh (Akashdeep Saigal) forms the rival mafia group and he wants to take over Das in business. Deva’s main work includes smuggling diamonds from African countries. Chitti (Jegan) is Deva’s sidekick. Das has some principles and he never deals with drugs. The rest of the story is all about what happens between Deva and Kamlesh.

Artists Performance
Surya excels as the flamboyant youngster who smuggles diamonds right under the nose of customs department. He is extremely cool in romantic episodes. His yamakasi stunts shot in Africa deserves a special mention. Tamanna is gorgeous in this movie. The cinematographer succeeded in capturing her in the right angles with right make-up/styling. Prabhu is perfect as the righteous godfather. Jegan is natural as the friend of Surya. Akashdeep Saigal is just ok.

Technical departments
Story - screenplay - direction: The story of the film has all ingredients that require for a commercial potboiler – action, friendship, adventure, sentiment and romance. Screenplay is laden with nice commercial payoffs. Direction of the movie is flamboyant. I liked the screenplay technique where the unexplained portion is rewound to explain the missing links. The scene comprising of a film director asking for good English DVDs by explaining situation of the movie is good. Some of the scenes are intelligent (like the one where Ganesh idol is melt to unearth cocaine). This film borrows quite a few ideas from Hollywood flicks –

1. Catch me if you can: smuggler joining the customs department as an employee at the end to help them out.
2. Maria Full of Grace: Swallowing pellets of cocaine and smuggling them to other countries.
3. Yamakasi: The street fight sequence in Africa.
4. Godfather: Rules of mafia trade and saying no to drug business by Prabhu.

Other departments:
Cinematography by MS Prabhu is excellent. The virgin locations of Africa are well explored (especially the locations of last but one song shot in a desert). Music by Harris Jayaraj is just ok. Fights by Kanal Kannan (especially the first chase shot in African country) are superb. Dialogues are adequate. Production values by AVM banner are grand.

veedokkadeAnalysis: Veedokkade is a slick action entertainer that deals with the business of diamond trafficking with the backdrop of friendship. The plus points of the film are Surya, Tamanna and nice screenplay with good commercial payoffs. On the flip side, certain scenes (introducing heroine and her family as prostitutes / ghastly portrayal of friend’s killing episode) may be offending for movie lovers of delicate sensibilities. On a whole, Veedokkade is a slickly executed action flick.

Vikram's Mallana Releasing On May 1st 2009

Mallana, the most awaiting Telugu film of Vikram and Shriya Saran, is all set to hit the screen on 1st May 2009. Mallana is an action-packed entertainer movie directed by Susi Ganesan, was expected to be released on 2008 Deepavali, but have been delayed due to some shooting halts and the sudden death of actor Raghuvaran. Other prominent actors in Mallana are Vivek, Ashish Vidyarthi, Krishna, Prabhu Ganesan, Santhanam, and Indrajith Sukumaran.


Mallana is produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu, the cinematography is N. K. Ekambaram and the movie will distributed by Kalaipuli International.

Devi Sri Prasad is the music director of Mallana and the lyrics were penned by Vairamuthu. The teaser song "Excuse Me Mr. Kanthaswamy" is already a superhit!
